Want to leave those memories behind?

Moving on can be hard to do when the past is a tattoo etched into your skin. What was once thought to be expressive and edgy may become unsightly and embarrassing today. At Devenir Aesthetics, we offer an effective and safe solution to remove unwanted tattoos. Devenir Aesthetics was the first clinic in Central Texas to offer the most effective laser tattoo removal technology.

Laser tattoo removal may be recommended by your tattoo artist prior to having a tattoo covered up or revised. Not only can it provide a “clean slate” on which the artist can create, but it can also help to eliminate any chance of scarring or having any other reactions. It is important to remember that several tattoo removal treatments may be required prior to getting your tattoo revised.

How does laser tattoo removal work?

Lumenis® Q-switched Nd: YAG Laser produces quick pulses of light which are directed to the skin. With each pulse, the ink in the skin is broken up into tiny particles, which are then reabsorbed by the body. Prior to treatment, a topical numbing agent is applied to the treatment area to reduce discomfort.

How can I expect to look after a treatment?

Serious side effects are rare. Immediately following treatment, the area may appear red. This is a normal response that may last 24-48 hours on average. In rare instances, temporary swelling and/or blistering may occur.

How many treatments will I need?

Depending mainly on the colors, size, age of the tattoo, and type of ink used, the laser tattoo removal process will vary. Usually, at the very minimum, 5 treatments may only be needed. Some colors, such as red and black, are easier to remove, as opposed to green and yellow which are more difficult. On average, most tattoos take 10-12 sessions scheduled systematically to be effectively removed. Sessions must be done at the frequency your provider has instructed in order to be effectual.

What results can I expect to see?

Each pulse of the laser sends light energy into your skin. We use different wavelengths of laser light to treat different colors of ink in your tattoo. As the light energy is directed into your skin, it is selectively absorbed by the tattoo ink particles trapped in the dermis of your skin. When the ink particles absorb this energy, they instantly shatter into tiny fragments. Once the laser has broken the ink into smaller pieces, your body’s immune system works to remove the ink over the following weeks, effectively flushing it away from the tattooed area. As the tattoo lightens in appearance, you know that the process is working. Each additional laser treatment breaks down more and more ink until the tattoo can no longer be seen.

Does it hurt?
Yes. If the tattoo hurt when you got it, it’s safe to say that getting it removed will also hurt. Nonetheless, prior to the treatment, we apply a topical numbing cream to the skin to reduce the discomfort. During the procedure, we use a cooling air system directed to the tattooed area; and of course, we provide cool compresses post-treatment.
How much does it cost?

The cost varies by tattoo size, but we do have a minimum $100 fee per treatment.

If I have blisters does it mean something went wrong?
No. Blisters are our bodies’ natural way of protecting our skin when it experiences a specific type of trauma. It is most helpful to the underlying skin if that blistered protection remains in place long enough for it to heal properly.

There is no need to drain or pop the blisters nor do we advise doing so. If you have any questions, always call us!
