Improve the appearance of your skin by undergoing treatment with PRP in Austin. PRP, or Platelet-Rich Plasma, is an injection treatment for stimulating collagen production to tighten skin and reduce the appearance of acne scars and wrinkles. This treatment also helps in filling in hollow areas like the cheeks and temples.
The staff at Devenir Aesthetics is committed to helping patients achieve their appearance goals. We regularly train in the latest advancements in the field of aesthetics in order to provide state-of-the-art care.
What Is PRP?
As we age, our body’s processes slow down, including production of collagen. Additionally, fat is gradually lost from the underlying facial fat layer. These changes lead to volume loss, sagging skin, and wrinkles. A PRP injection treatment stimulates collagen production and creates new volume in the targeted area.
A PRP injection treatment involves collecting a sample of the patient’s blood. Platelets and plasma are collected from the blood and then concentrated. This platelet-rich concentration contains a number of growth factors, which boost the body’s collagen production rate and ability to heal.
Am I a Good Candidate for PRP?
The best candidates for a PRP treatment are people who want to tighten sagging skin, reduce acne scars and wrinkles, and fill in facial hollows without undergoing a surgical procedure.
It is especially recommended for people with allergies to other cosmetic treatments. Since PRP comes from the patient’s own blood, it is highly unlikely for an allergic reaction to happen.
A PRP treatment may not be best for individuals with blood and bleeding disorders, active skin infections, or a history of cancer. People with these medical conditions should arrange a consultation to explore other cosmetic treatments that are safe for their health.
Your PRP Consultation
A PRP consultation involves an in-depth conversation about your appearance goals. We will assess your areas of concern and discuss the advantages that PRP can provide.
Prepare your complete medical history, including past procedures and current prescriptions, to help determine your eligibility for a PRP treatment. If you are taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, anticoagulants, or antiplatelets, discuss these during your consultation.
Your PRP Session
A PRP session will begin with collecting a blood sample. Once this blood is drawn out, it will be placed in a centrifuge to isolate platelet-rich plasma from the blood. The time allotted for concentrating PRP will depend on the amount of PRP the patient will be needing for treatment.
After the PRP has been processed, it will be drawn up into a syringe and injected into the selected areas for treatment. No anesthesia is typically required.
PRP Aftercare
There is no downtime or recovery time required after a PRP treatment. Results can last for as long as 18 months. Depending on what is recommended for you during your consultation, you may come in for maintenance PRP treatments every 4 to 6 months.
Avoid applying ice or heat on the injection site for the first 72 hours after your PRP treatment. Do not take hot bath or saunas, and do not drink any alcoholic drinks for at least 48 hours after the treatment. To get the most out of a PRP treatment’s benefits, do not apply lotions, oils, or makeup on the injection site for the first 6 hours.
